About the IAS System

The Invasive Alien Species (IAS) System is a national platform designed to support Samoa’s efforts to prevent, monitor, and manage invasive species. It integrates species data, maps, and reporting tools to strengthen community awareness and coordination among stakeholders.

How It Works

Species Database
Access a comprehensive database of invasive species known to affect Samoa’s terrestrial, freshwater, and marine environments. Each record includes scientific information, photographs, distribution maps, and management guidance.
Interactive Mapping
Visualise the presence of invasive species across Samoa’s islands and villages. The map integrates geospatial data, survey records, and management interventions to support planning and reporting.
Community Reporting
Enable citizens, village committees, and environmental officers to report sightings of invasive species through an accessible online form. Verified submissions contribute directly to national datasets.
Collaborative Management
Facilitate coordination between ministries, conservation organizations, and local partners. Shared dashboards and data tools ensure that management actions are aligned and transparent.
